- Bikes built between 2021 and 2024
- Over 2,000 units recalled in the US
- No recalls in India have been issued yet
BMW Motorrad has recalled the R18 and R18 Transcontinental in North America because of an issue with the headlight. These bikes were built between 2021 and 2024 which is over 2,000 units in the US.
The company says the problem lies with the attachment points for the low beam that may break which could cause the headlight reflector to fall out of its intended position. This could lead to insufficient illumination or cause oncoming traffic to get blinded due to the odd angle of the reflector.
BMW adds that the signs that indicate the problem are hearing a rattling noise within the headlight or a vibrating low beam. At present, BMW has no solution to the problem but says that it is working on finding a fix as soon as it can. Owners will be contacted and the replacement headlights will be changed, likely free of charge.
For now, BMW Motorrad has not issued a recall in India and we shall update this story as soon as there are any developments.
