BMW Motorrad India has launched the R nineT in India at Rs 23.5 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). This makes this motorcycle the fourth roadster to be sold in India along with the S1000R, K1300R and the R1200R.
The R nineT is powered by an air-cooled flat twin 1170cc boxer engine that produces 110bhp at 7550rpm and maximum torque of 119Nm at 6000rpm. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox that transfers power to rear wheels via a chain drive. BMW claims the fuel efficiency of the motorcycle to be at 22.kmpl and that it can reach a top speed of 200kmph.
Talking about the design and styling, the R nineT doesn’t really look similar to any of the BMW motorcycles. The tail section reminds one of a Café Racer inspiration, making it look very retro. Round headlamps, spoked wheels and aluminium accents make this bike look classic. The Indian arm of the German manufacturer is providing various customisations to this motorcycle, depending on the customers’ requirements. The pillion seat is removable and the akrapovic exhaust, which runs down the left side of the R nineT, can be mounted in a lowered or raised position, depending on the length of the connector accessory pipe ordered.
The BMW R nineT will be sold in India through the completely-built-up (CBU) route and will be available at all dealerships in India. Deliveries are expected to begin from next month.
