BMW Motorrad has launched the R nineT range in India at Rs 15.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). A retro street bike, the R nineT is available in a standard and Scrambler trim, with the former commanding a price tag of Rs 17.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The BMW R nineT is one of most minimalistic and easily-customisable motorcycles that you buy. Its simple styling cues give it an elegant look, along with the versatility to be moulded into different genres of custom motorcycles. The BMW R nineT Scrambler is a neo-retro version of the standard R nineT, complete with classic styling cues like raised chrome twin-pipe exhaust, black bellows, belly pan, round instrument console and sculpted steel tank. The handlebar has been moved closer to the rider and the footpegs lowered, offering an upright riding position for the rider.
Both the R nineT and the R nineT Scrambler are powered by a 1170cc air-cooled twin-cylinder boxer engine, which delivers 110bhp and 116Nm of torque. ABS is offered as a standard fitment, however, traction control is an optional add-on. The R nineT competes with the Moto Guzzi Griso 1200.
