BMW Motorrad UK has gone ahead and the launched the Scrambler variant of their R nineT. It will sell alongside it roadster twin which is aptly called the R nineT Roadster. The UK price for the new motorcycle from BMW is £10,530 (Rs 9.3 lakh).
Compared to the R nineT Roadster, the handlebars on the Scrambler are placed higher and the seat is repositioned. The motorcycle also features a slightly longer spring travel, to help overcome rough spots. The dual sport tyres, a high-mounted exhaust system, and the upright riding position help make this motorcycle a ‘Scrambler’. The R nineT comes with ABS as standard and ASC (Automatic Stability Control) as an option.
The R nineT Scrambler is powered by the same air-cooled flat-twin 1170cc boxer engine as the Roadster. It produces 110bhp at 7550rpm and maximum torque of 116Nm at 6000rpm. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox that transfers power to rear wheels via chain drive. For the Roadster, BMW claimed the fuel efficiency of the motorcycle at 22kmpl and can reach a top speed of 200kmph.
There is no news on the India arrival of this motorcycle however, if it does make it, expect pricing to be marginally lower than the Roadster variant which is priced around Rs 23.5 lakh.
