BMW Motorrad India has launched the R12 cruiser in India. This is the latest cruiser from the German bikemaker and the most affordable one at that. It is priced at Rs. 19.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is offered in three colours – Black Storm Metallic, Avus Silver Metallic, and Aventurin Red Metallic.
The BMW R12 takes inspiration from the brand’s flagship cruiser, the R18 Transcontinental. It gets a raked-out front end, a single seat, bar end mirrors, and a tubular handlebar. Further, the dual exhaust pipes also add to its visual appeal.
Powering the BMW R 12 is a 1,170cc, air/oil-cooled boxer twin motor. It belts out 95bhp at 6,500rpm and 110Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox, and the bikes come equipped with many rider aids. The list includes keyless operation, ride modes, traction control, ABS, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Further, you can also equip the R 12 with additional features such as hill start control, heated grips, and cruise control with the Comfort Package.
The R12’s hardware includes rebound-adjustable USD front forks, a steering stabiliser, and a preload-adjustable monoshock. The bike rides on a 19-inch front and 16-inch rear alloy wheels wrapped in 100/90 front and 150/80 rear tyres. It gets a 14-litre fuel tank and tips the scale at 227kg.
