- BMW R18 B spied
- Gets different bodywork and hard case saddlebags
- Is ikely to be launched in the next few months
The BMW R18 is one mammoth of a motorcycle that was built to take on Harley-Davidson’s cruisers. And the existence of a touring-oriented version was revealed through type-approval filings.
Now, the motorcycle, called the R18 B has been spotted testing out in the open. It is based on the BMW R18 Classic which sports straight exhausts, unlike the standard R18’s bulbous fishtail pipes. This is to fit the hard case saddlebags it comes with. Moreover, it also sports a large ‘batwing’ fairing that houses a round, full-LED headlamp and auxiliary lights on each side. To make things more touring-friendly, the BMW R18 B also sports a different single-piece seat that looks comfier than the one on the other variants. And most importantly, it rides on alloy wheels that are likely to come with tubeless tyres rather than the spoke wheels on the R18. However, we expect BMW to offer alloy wheels as option.
Nevertheless, the R18 B will come powered by the same 1800cc, boxer-twin engine that churns out around 90bhp and a massive 158Nm of torque. In terms of its features list, BMW is expected to add a few more electronic aids to make it touring friendly.
We can expect BMW to unveil the R18 B in the next few months. It is also likely to be launched in India sometime next year with a hefty price tag.
