- Select BMW dealers accepting bookings of the R18 cruiser
- Booking amount varies from Rs 50,000 to Rs 3 lakh
- Likely to be launched around October in India
BMW Motorrad had globally unveiled the production version of the R18 cruiser last month which took the motorcycle fraternity by storm with its extremely gorgeous looks. The German bike maker is expected to launch it in India sometime around October this year with an expected price tag of over Rs 20 lakh. If you’re ready to shell out an exorbitant sum on this exotic piece of art, select BMW dealers in India are already taking bookings for the bike.
The refundable booking amount for the BMW R18 varies from Rs 50,000 to Rs 3 lakh, depending on the dealer. Although most of the showrooms are currently closed due to the lockdown, interested buyers can call up the nearest dealer and make the booking through online payment. If you’re willing to get your hands on one, you better hurry as BMW will be bringing limited units of the R18 to India and a few of them have already been booked, according to the dealers.
Besides the breath-taking retro design, another noteworthy aspect of the R18 is that it packs the largest boxer-twin engine ever produced by BMW. The 1,802cc, air-cooled engine produces 91bhp of power at 4,750rpm and 158Nm of peak torque at 3,000rpm. Interestingly, most of the torque is available in the lower rev band, from 2,000rpm to 4,000rpm. It is also loaded with electronic aids such as traction control, cruise control, hill-hold assist, ride-by-wire throttle and three riding modes – Rain, Rock and Roll.
The BMW R18 will be available in two variants including standard and First Edition model. In terms of competition, it will go up against the full-size cruisers from Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle.
