- R18 Dragster unveil
- Gets lots of custom parts
- Braking system from S1000RR
BMW’s latest creation, the R18 has received a custom job from the famous bike designer, Roland Sands. The designer took the muscle car design approach while styling this BMW.
To achieve this stance and design, the frame has been modified completely removing the rear suspension for drag racing. The designer has also modified the front and rear fenders in order to keep the classic R 18 silhouette. The headlight has been borrowed from the original R 18 and is highlighted with the headlight bezel from the design collection of milled aluminium parts. The bike is also equipped with hand fabricated stainless steel twin megaphone system.
The hydraulic front brake and clutch master cylinders are custom. The paint finish is a two tone metallic blue with classic white BMW pin-stripes. The front forks have been taken from the BMW R nineT. In order to take care of heavy braking, the brakes from the S1000RR have been utilised.
While this bike is still in its custom job, we can expect the German brand to roll out a limited edition model in the future. And if it manages to look as close to this one, expect it to be sold out within a few days.
