- R18 spotted in India
- Launch next month
- Gets a 158Nm motor
BMW Motorrad’s latest creation, the R18 has reached Indian shores. The bike was recently spotted in the country and is here for customer preview events.
According to one of our sources, the R18 cruiser will be first showcased in Gurgaon this month to a closed group of individuals. It will then go to Chandigarh for a private preview. The German brand wants to showcase this large cruiser to some of its brand enthusiasts so that I could garner some sales before it is launched officially.
This motorcycle is known for its 1802cc air-cooled motor that produces 91bhp of peak power along with 158Nm of torque. All the torque is available between 2000rpm and 4000rpm. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel via a shaft drive. The bike is equipped with electronic aids such as traction control, cruise control, hill-hold assist, ride-by-wire throttle and three riding modes – Rain, Rock and Roll.
The bookings for the R18 had commenced a few weeks ago. The official launch is expected to take place in mid-September and is likely to carry a price tag of around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
