BMW Motorrad has recalled 14 motorcycle models over a possible faulty rear brake light. The recall, which affects 4,026 motorcycles, mostly includes MY2020 motorcycles. The recall notice was published on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) website.
The recall notice stated that the brake light may flash instead of remaining steady during emergency braking. The affected vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108. BMW will contact the owners of the affected motorcycles, and dealers will reprogram the emergency stop signal function, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on 4 May 2020.
BMW has not received any reports of any accidents or injuries related to this issue. Find the complete list of affected models below:
