The BMW S 1000 R is the naked version of the supersport - the S 1000 RR. Launched three years ago, the S 1000 R has been build to cater to the growing demand of naked streetfighter that has the ability to churn out as much power as a litre-class sports bike. When this bike was sold a few years ago, there was only one variant available and that was the top-spec version. But with BMW Motorrad's official presence in India - one of the fastest growing markets for premium bikes - the S 1000 R is available in three versions - standard, sport and pro. And here, we tell you the differences between each of the trim levels.
All the three versions of this 165bhp motorcycle have few common features. Things like Automatic Stability Control (ASC), ABS, riding modes, slipper clutch are seen on all the three variants. They also have the cast aluminium wheels, adjustable hand brake lever, aluminium fuel tank in common. The Sport model gets additional four additional features - Gear Shift Assist Pro, ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control(DTC) and cruise control. The top-of-the-line version - pro - gets additional Dynamic Damping Control (DDC), heated grips, engine spoiler and white LED turn indicators. BMW calls this set of features as Dynamic Package.
The German automaker has priced these models Rs 1 lakh apart from each other. The standard S 1000 R could be yours for Rs 16.9 lakh, the sport at Rs 17.9 lakh and the pro at RS 18.9 lakh. All these prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
