- Gets Euro5 upgrade
- Two new colour options added
- Gets several new optional accessories
BMW Motorrad has updated its litre-class supersport motorcycle, the S 1000 RR to comply with the new, more stringent emission norms.
The motorcycle, which received a major overhaul last year, now gets a Euro5-compliant engine. The details about the power and torque output figures are yet to be announced. The Euro4 model, for reference, was tuned to draw 200.8bhp at 13,500rpm and 113Nm at 11,000rpm from its 999cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine.
Apart from the Euro5 upgrade, the updated model will also get new paint options – Black Storm metallic and Racing Red non-metallic.
The optional equipment from the M division comprises of M titanium exhaust system, M milled parts package, M clutch lever protector, M brake lever protector, M folding brake lever, M folding clutch lever, M engine protectors, M rider footrest system left/right, M Endurance chain, USB charging port and M GPS lap trigger.
The optional M GPS lap trigger uses a GPS sensor to send the signal to the instrument cluster, which allows the data-logger to trigger the lap timer/lap counter via GPS instead of manually.
The updated model should arrive in the Indian market by late-2020 to early 2021.
