The S 1000 RR is a phenomenal sportbike in its stock form itself. But BMW was too kind to lend us the Pro M Sport variant of the bike recently and we sampled it comprehensively over a week. You can read about our experience with the bike in detail in our first ride review. As of now, let’s take a look at the highlights of the bike along with its pictures.
The latest model of the S 1000 RR borrows winglets from the homologation special, the M 1000 RR. As a result, it looks more imposing, purposeful and attention-grabbing.
The Pro M Sport variant gets more upmarket hardware than the stock trim such as carbon fibre wheels and heel plates along with a lighter battery.
The suspension setup comprises electronically adjustable Marzocchi springs at both ends while Nissin brake calipers take care of the speed-shedding duties.
The 999cc, inline four-cylinder engine produces an astounding 207bhp and revs up to as high as 15,000rpm. It also sports BMW’s ShiftCam tech for an efficient distribution of torque across the rev range.
This variant of the bike comes with three additional customisable Race Pro modes which give you access to the new Brake Slide Assist and DTC Slide Control functions.
All the rider aids can be monitored and tweaked via a large TFT screen that’s clearly legible in any lighting condition but navigating through different screens may be a little complicated initially.
The Pro M Sport variant of the S 1000 RR costs Rs. 25.25 lakh (ex-showroom) which makes it around Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh more expensive than the standard and Pro variants, respectively.
