- BMW S1000R BS6 to be launched in India soon
- BS6 model gets an updated design and new feartures
- Likely to carry a price premium over its predecessor
BMW Motorrad has confirmed via its social media channels that it will introduce the new S1000R in the Indian market very soon. While the company has confirmed the upcoming Indian launch of the motorcycle, it did not reveal any timeline.
The naked roadster features several styling and mechanical upgrades for 2021. The biggest change is the new headlamp that is similar to the units on the 2021 G 310 R and F900R. The fuel tank, radiator shrouds, and belly pan, too, have received a styling upgrade and the units on the 2021 model are sharper than the old version.
Apart from the styling revision, BMW Motorrad has also updated the motor to comply with the newer emission norms. The naked roadster continues to use a 999cc, inline-four cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that deliver 165bhp of maximum power at 11,000rpm and 115Nm of peak torque at 9,250rpm. The 2021 S1000R tips the weighing scale at 199kg. The weight can be reduced further through optional accessories such as forged wheels and carbon-fibre hoops.
The feature list comprises full-LED lighting and a 6.5-inch TFT display. The electronic rider aids include three riding modes (Rain, Road, and Dynamic), anti-wheelie control, ABS Pro with cornering capability, and dynamic traction control.
The new model should carry a price premium over its predecessor. The old model, for reference, was sold at Rs 16.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in the Indian market.
