BMW Motorrad is recalling its litre class bikes – the S1000R and the S1000RR – due to an issue with its rear suspension.
21 units of the S1000R and the S1000RR are part of this recall. The S1000RR units have been manufactured between June 8, 2016 and November 16, 2016. The recalled S1000R bikes have been produced on October 12, 2016. As per the German manufacturer, one of the bolts on the rear suspension deflection lever might get loose. This could adversely affect the handling of the motorcycle and that’s a potential risk for the rider and pillion.
BMW Motorrad will begin contacting the affected customers soon and ask them to bring their motorcycles for a check-up. The dealers will replace and tighten the bolts as per the specification free of charge.
A few of these bikes have been sold in India, however, there has been no official notification from the manufacturer’s Indian arm. Stay tuned for updates in case that status changes.
