The S1000RR had a massive fan following in India when this country wasn’t home to the other litre-class motorcycles. This fan following gradually decreased in the last two years, but now with its official presence in India, the S1000R has a chance of becoming every kid’s bedroom poster. With two variants on offer, the S1000RR has been priced to take on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R and the Honda CBR 1000RR. But before you think of buying the BMW, take a look at the break up of both its variants and the features offered
The S1000RR is available in two versions – a standard version which is priced at Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and pro which is priced Rs 2.5 lakh more than the standard at Rs 21.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
For both the variants, the mechanical specifications are the same. The 999cc inline-four motor produces 199bhp at 13500rpm and peak torque of 113Nm at 10500rpm. What changes are the feature they each get. Both trim levels – standard and pro - get ABS, launch control, LED taillight, riding modes, adjustable front brake lever, slipper clutch and aluminium fuel tank. The pro version which can be bought by paying Rs 2.5 lakh extra will get you two additional packages – dynamic and race. The dynamic pack has Gear Shift Assist Pro, Dynamic Damping Control (DDC), heated grips and white LED turn indicators. The race package has the Riding Modes Pro, cruise control and the advanced form of ABS under the name – ABS Pro.
The German manufacturer is also offering forged wheels as an optional equipment. However, the pricing for this isn’t out yet. The bookings for the S1000RR has begun at the three BMW showrooms – Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru.
