BMW Motorrad has unveiled their new motorcycle, the S1000R. This bike is the street fighter version of one of thebest super sport motorcycles, the S1000RR. The German automaker has decided to name this new street version pretty neatly by dropping the “R” from the super sport version.
Powering the S1000R is the same 999cc inline-four engine that powers the S1000RR but the power has been reduced by 30bhp and is now 160bhp. The torque, however, has been increased by 9Nm to deliver low-end and mid-range torque.
BMW Motorrad has made sure that the S1000R comes fully loaded with the new model featuring a race ABS, automatic stability control (ASC) and dual-riding modes (Road & Rain), with dynamic traction control (DTC) as an add-on feature. The BMW dynamic damping control (DDC) is optional making it the first motorcycle in its segment to feature this technology.
The BMW S1000R is available in non-metallic Racing Red, Light White and metallic Frozen Dark Blue and will go on sale in March/April 2014. Expect this machine to make its way to India late next year as completely-built-up(CBU) units.
