BMW updates entire F700, F800 and R1200 range

BMW has updated the F700 GS, the entire F800 range and the R1200 range as well. The motorcycles now comply with the Euro-4 update which every manufacturer has to meet. From the list of motorcycles BMW updated we only get the R1200 range in India.

Starting with the F700 and F800 range, the 798cc water-cooled parallel-twin has been updated with a new exhaust which also gets a newly designed stainless steel silencer. An HP sports exhaust made by Akrapovic has also been redesigned and will be available as an official accessory.

Along with the new instrument cluster the dash also gets a mandatory Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) which lights up if there is an engine issue. The entire F700GS and F800GS Adventure range also now get ride-by-wire throttle control of the engine which means they can have rider modes. Each bike will have the choice of pre-programmed Rain, Road, Enduro and Enduro Pro modes to suit the riding conditions. Enduro and Enduro Pro modes are only available as accessory options on the F800GS and F800GS Adventure models and are intended for more demanding off-road use.

There are three paint options for each of the new F700 GS and F800 GS, and there are two additional paint finishes for the BMW 800 GS Adventure fitted with new radiator trim elements, a new intake silencer cover and a new ignition lock casing.

The R1200GS has got a host of new updates, the changes to the bikes include a judder damper on the transmission output shaft, revised selector drum actuator in the gearbox and updates to the transmission shafts and transmission shaft bearings. An On Board Diagnostics (OBD) light, permanently on sidelights and a revised instrument panel are all part of the changes to all of the bikes in the R1200 range.

Along with the engineering changes outlined above, the RT, RS and R models will get new paint options and they will also be available with the ABS Pro cornering ABS system and the Dynamic Brake Light which strobes under heavy braking to warn following traffic of a potential emergency ahead. The RT will be available in black, white and metallic bronze colour options.
