Indian Motorcycles has announced the winners of its inaugural ‘Project Scout: Build a Legend’ custom motorcycle build-off. The competition, which was open to Indian Motorcycle dealers around the world, was won by the company’s Terrebonne dealership in Canada.
The Boardtracker is a tribute to the legendary Indian Scout motorcycles which were used in Board track racing in the 1930s. The cope pipes and wood imitation seat, footrest, number plate and handle show the high level of workmanship that went into making this motorcycle. The 26-inch wheels and the tyres are painted in white, giving the Boardtracker an antique look. With the Boardtracker, the designers attempted to give the audience an insight into the illustrious history of the iconic brand.
The fans' favourite in the build-off, decided by voting, was the Fusion, designed by the Lowell dealership, North Carolina. This bike stays true to the DNA of the modern Indian Scout while adding a flavour of the company’s old-school charm.
The Builders Choice Award went to the Northwest Arkansas dealership's Ol’ #71, an ode to Indian Motorcycle’s factory AMA racer, Bobby Hill. Inspired by the Project Scout race machine of the late 1940s and the early 1950s, the superlight Ol’ #71 gets a two-tone paint scheme and the ‘71’ race number painted all over as a tribute.
