- 2021 KTM RC 125 globally unveiled
- Gets all-new styling and more features
- Improved on the hardware front as well
KTM has globally revealed the next-generation 2021 model of its smallest fully-faired motorcycle, the RC 125. The baby RC has received a host of updates in terms of design, features and hardware.
Thanks to the test mule spotting on multiple occasions, the styling changes were already known to us. The motorcycle has lost its aesthetic edginess in favour of larger and more muscular body work. The front fascia, in particular, is larger and looks inspired by the brand’s MotoGP machine. There’s a bold headlamp surrounded by carbon fibre-finished cowl with a bubble-type fairing on top. Even the main fairing, fuel tank, and tail have been re-designed. KTM has revealed two colour options of the 2021 RC 125 – white/orange and black/orange.
The revised body work has also contributed to weight savings of around 3.4kg over its predecessor that’s already pretty light. The ergonomics are also tweaked for allowing the rider to hold on to the fuel tank with their knees more tightly. For a longer riding range, there’ a larger 13.7-litre fuel tank as well. All the data is shown on a new full-colour TFT console that’s identical to that in the 390 Duke. However, the chances of this console coming in the India-spec model are slim. Other changes include new mirrors, different rider and pillion seats, integrated blinkers, and position lights.
The hardware package has also been improved over the existing model. The bike is suspended by 43mm WP Apex upside down forks up front with rebound and compression damping adjustability along with a WP Apex monoshock set up at the rear with similar adjustability. The braking setup comprises a 320mm disc with a radially-mounted, four-piston ByBre caliper and a 230mm disc with a one-piston, fixed caliper at the front and rear, respectively. Changes have also been executed in its 125cc, liquid-cooled engine for improved performance.
The official India launch of the 2021 KTM RC 125 is expected to take place in the coming months. Now, it remains to be seen what all features from the international model will trickle down in the Indian version.
