- Yamaha YZF R15 images leaked
- Production model spotted in the open
- Official launch could take place soon
After recently getting homologated in India, Yamaha’s upcoming fully-faired offering, the YZF R15M, has been spotted in all its glory. And it’s not a camouflaged test mule pictures of which have been doing rounds on the internet lately. Instead, this is the final production model of the R15M that looks ready to be launched in India.
The design of the motorcycle is a major departure from the existing YZF R15 V3. It looks inspired by the bigger YZF R7 with those sleek LED DRLs and an LED projector headlamp at the centre. The fairing has also been redone to make it look bigger and more muscular. The new images reveal two colour options of the R15M – blue with black and white with black, both sporting blue alloy wheels.
Apart from the design, another notable change is the presence of upside down forks up front, as opposed to telescopic units in the existing model. Thanks to the leaked homologation document, we also know that the bike makes lesser power than the standard R15 currently on sale. The M variant is good for 18.1bhp as against the base trim’s 18.3bhp. The reason for this drop in performance is not known yet.
The official launch of the Yamaha YZF R15M is likely to take place in the coming weeks. It will mostly be priced around Rs 10,000-15,000 more than the existing R15 which starts at Rs 1,56,600 (ex-showroom).
