Honda has recently launched its first BS6-compliant motorcycle, the SP 125, in India. Based on the existing CB Shine SP (BS4), the motorcycle is priced at Rs 72,900 (drum) and Rs 77,100 (front disc). As Honda introduced the motorcycle way ahead of the BS6 deadline, there are ample of similarly-priced BS4 alternatives which are value-for-money propositions. Let’s check out what are they.
Hero Glamour FI:
The Hero Glamour FI is the closest rival of the SP 125 in the premium commuter segment. Although the motorcycle is not BS6 compliant yet, it does get a fuel-injected motor. The 124.7cc unit produces 11.5bhp and 11Nm which is higher than the power output of the SP 125. We have done a detailed comparison of both bikes and you can check it out here. The Glamour FI is priced at Rs 69,950.
Bajaj Pulsar 150:
Priced similar to the SP 125, the Bajaj Pulsar 150 Neon offers a higher displacing 149cc, air-cooled motor which produces 13.8bhp and 13.4Nm of torque. Besides the larger engine and higher power output, the Pulsar offers a more muscular and sportier-looking aesthetics. While the Neon editions is the most affordable variant at Rs 75,200, one can also choose from the single disc and dual disc versions which are priced at Rs 85,958 and Rs 89,837, respectively.
Hero Xtreme Sports:
Around this price range, yet another 150cc motorcycle with a sporty design is Hero’s Xtreme Sports. It features an angular headlamp accompanied by position lamps, chiseled fuel tank with sharp extensions and the long tail which houses a split seat. At 15.6bhp and 13.5Nm, it produces more power than the Pulsar 150. The Xtreme Sports can either be bought in a single disc or a dual disc trim which cost Rs 80,580 and Rs 82,850.
Suzuki Burgman Street 125:
For the buyers who would choose the convenience of a scooter over motorcycles, this price bracket consists of the Suzuki Burgman Street 125. While the scooter stands out for its bold maxi-scooter styling, its smooth-running and fuel-efficient 124cc motor is yet another aspect which makes it highly desirable. The Burgman also gets modern features such as full-LED lighting and a fully-digital instrument cluster. The scooter is pegged at Rs 70,312.
Aprilia SR 125
On contrary to the Burgman’s maxi styling and relaxed nature, the Aprilia SR 125 takes things on the sportier side. The design of the SR boasts of sharp contours all around while the bright colour options and funky graphics make it further sportier. Moreover, its 124cc powerplant has a decent low-end grunt and registers a power output of 9.4bhp and 8.2Nm. The pricing of the SR 125 stands at Rs 74,027.
Okinawa Ridge Plus
As opposed to the aforementioned petrol-powered two-wheelers, if you wish to go green with your new ride, Okinawa retails the Ridge Plus at Rs 73,272. Typical of an electric two-wheeler, the Ridge packs a host of features such as keyless start, anti-theft alarm, fully-digital instrument cluster and ‘Find My Scooter’ functionality.
