- Prices have hiked by up to Rs 7,500
- Gets new features and styling
TVS Motor Company has launched the updated model of its commuter motorcycle, the Star City Plus. It has been introduced in two variants including mono tone and dual tone which are priced at Rs 62,034 and Rs 62,534 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is a premium of up to Rs 7,500 over their BS4 models.
The new Star City gets new features and updated styling, apart from the revised engine. Powering the motorcycle is a 109cc, fuel-injected motor which produces 8bhp at 7,350rpm and 8.7Nm at 4,500rpm. This is marginal drop in performance as compared to the BS4 powerplant. Transmission duties continue to be handled by a four-speed gearbox. The company claims the new Fi engine is 15 per cent more fuel efficient than its carb variant.
The motorcycle now packs a bunch of new features such as full LED headlamp, a USB mobile charger, five-step adjustable shock absorber at the rear and a dual-tone seat. It continues to display information on a semi-digital instrument cluster. TVS has also bestowed the Star City Plus with a fresh styling. It looks sleeker and more compact now with a new bikini fairing, fuel tank and rear panel, all of which lend it a sportier appeal. As for the hardware, besides the rear suspension being adjustable now, rest of the cycle parts remain unchanged.
In the entry-level commuter segment, the BS6 TVS Star City Plus competes against the Bajaj Platina 110, Honda Dream Yuga and Hero HF Deluxe.
