Piaggio India has updated its portfolio by launching the facelifted versions of the VXL 125 and SXL 125. The company had showcased these scooters at the 2020 Auto Expo in February. In case you’re planning to buy one of these, here are four things you should know about the scooters.
Design
The styling of Vespa scooters is typically Italian and the VXL 125 and SXL 125 are no different. They boast of plush-looking metal body panels with smooth flowing design lines across the bodywork. While the VXL and SXL sport the same styling, the only difference is in the shape of their headlamp and rear view mirrors. The former is equipped with a round-shaped headlamp and mirrors whereas the latter gets these elements in a rectangular shape.
Features
In their BS4 avatar, the Vespa scooters were profoundly old-school as they were devoid of modern features. However, the SXL 125 and VXL 125 facelift versions incorporate LED headlamp and LED DRL, as opposed to the conventional bulbs of the previous models. Also, there’s a USB charger and a light in the under seat storage compartment to make the rider’s life easier.
Engine
Powering the scooters is the same 125cc, three-valve, air-cooled engine but the carburetor has been replaced by fuel-injector for cleaner emissions. This has brought along a slight change in their power output which stands at 9.7bhp and 9.6Nm now. Transmission duties continue to be handled by a CVT gearbox.
Price
Piaggio has priced the Vespa VXL 125 and SXL 125 Facelift at Rs 1,10,373 and Rs 1,14,204, respectively (both prices are ex-showroom, Pune). Both of them can be booked online and through dealerships at Rs 1,000 while the company is also giving away benefits of Rs 2,000.
