Yamaha has launched the BS6 version of its popular fully-faired motorcycle, the YZF R15 V3, in India. Besides the changes on the engine for compliance with the new emission norms, the motorcycle has received a few more changes. In that case, we tell you the top four highlights of the bike.
BS6-compliant engine
As we have observed with other BS6 models, the R15 has also seen a drop in its power figures following the BS6-bound changes. Its 155cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor now churns out 18.3bhp and 14.1Nm which is down from 19bhp and 14.7Nm of its BS4 counterpart. Transmission duties continue to be handled by a six-speed gearbox.
New features
Yamaha has also introduced a few minor yet useful features in the BS6 R15. This includes a ‘side stand engine cut-off switch’ which is a safety feature as it prevents the motor from cranking up when the side stand is down. Furthermore, the motorcycles now also gets dual horn and radial tubeless tyre at the rear.
Updated decals
The new BS6 R15 has been launched in three colour schemes including Racing Blue, Thunder Grey and Darknight. While these colour options are already available on the BS4 version, the Thunder Grey and Racing Blue get new set of decals which give them a fresh appeal. Also, the Racing Blue variant now gets blue coloured wheels as standard.
Price hike
All the aforementioned updates on the R15 has brought along a considerable price hike. All three colour variants get different prices which are around Rs 4,000 more than their corresponding BS4 counterparts. While the Darknight edition now costs Rs 1,47,300, Racing Blue and Thunder Grey variants are pegged at Rs 1,45,900 and Rs 1,45,300, respectively.
