- Powered by a 652cc, single-cylinder engine
-Features modern retro styling
-Expected to be priced competitively
The new BSA Gold Star 650 is all set to be launched tomorrow, that is 15 August. The heritage company was known to make some truly desirable motorcycles in the past and the new Gold Star 650 will have its work cut out as soon as it is launched. It must be noted that the bike has been on sale in international markets for a while and it is only being launched in India in 2024.
The styling of the bike sticks to the modern classic bike design handbook. Its large fuel tank, round headlight and curved fenders are reminiscent of old motorcycles. The fairly large amounts of the chrome splashed across the bike is neatly executed and adds to the charm of the bike. It looks retro in every sense of the word.
Powering the bike is a 652cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 45bhp at 6,500rpm and 55Nm at 4,000rpm. It is paired with a five-speed gearbox.
Moving on to the hardware, the bike has a cradle frame that is suspended by a telescopic fork and a pair of shock absorbers at the back. The bike rides on wire spoke rims. Braking duties are taken care of by a disc brake on both ends.
In terms of features, you’ve got a semi-digital instrument cluster, dual-channel ABS and a USB charger.
The price of the BSA Gold Star 650 is expected to be pretty competitive. We expect it to begin at around Rs 2.60 lakh, ex-showroom. This should give it an edge over the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, its primary rival, which starts at Rs 3.03 lakh, ex-showroom.
