The BSA Gold Star 650 has been launched in India at Rs 2.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The Gold Star 650 is the company’s new modern-retro motorcycle that is built in India. It is offered in five different colours, which also vary in terms of the asking price.
Starting with the design, it looks charming and exudes a retro motorcycle vibe that should appeal to those who are into such motorcycles. Everything from the round headlight, to the shape of the fuel tank and the curved fenders make up for an elegant design. The Gold Star 650 will be available in the following colours- Insignia Red and Highland Green (Rs 2.99 lakh), Midnight Black and Dawn Silver (Rs 3.12 lakh) and Shadow Black that's priced at Rs 3.15 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
Under the bodywork, the Gold Star 650 has a cradle frame that is suspended by a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. The bike rides on wire-spoke wheels shod with tube-type tyres. Braking duties are taken care of by a single disc at both ends and dual channel ABS is fitted as standard.
The BSA Gold Star is powered by a 652cc, 4-valve, DOHC, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine develops 45bhp at 6,500rpm and 55Nm at 4,000rpm. It is paired with a five-speed gearbox. BSA claims the engine is refined for a big single and can propel the bike to a top speed in excess of 160kmph.
In terms of features, you’ve got a twin pod, semi-digital instrument cluster and a USB charger.
The BSA Gold Star 650 is available at authorised dealers and bookings have been thrown open. It goes up against the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 which starts at Rs 3.03 lakh.
