BSA revived itself with the launch of the Gold Star 650. The brand also entered the Indian two-wheeler space with Classic Legends and brought its latest offering here. If you are smitten by the Gold Star and looking forward to get one, then here are five thins you must know about it.
Thoroughbred Retro
The BSA Gold Star 650 harks back to its design of yesteryear. The bike looks thoroughly retro with its round headlight, large fuel tank, flat single-piece seat, round mirrors, long fenders and a bunch of chrome elements all over. So, it is fair to say that the new BSA Gold Star 650 is old-school in every sense.
Largest Single Cylinder
Although its prime rivals pack more cylinders, BSA has opted for a 652cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The setup makes a humble 45bhp at 6,500rpm and 55Nm at 4,000rpm and is linked to a six-speed gearbox. The brand also claims that the Gold Star can clock a top speed of 160kmph.
Barebone Features
In tandem with its design, the Gold Star 650’s features list too is old school. It gets a bulb headlight with a similar setup for the turn indicators and the tail light, a twin-pod semi digital instrument console, and a USB charging port.
Basic Hardware
The BSA Gold Star 650 uses a cradle frame suspended on telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks. Its braking hardware comprises a single disc at both ends with dual-channel ABS as the safety net. These brakes are mounted on an 18-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheel wrapped in 100/90 front and 150/70 rear tubed tyres.
Aggressive Asking Price
The asking price for the BSA Gold Star 650 starts at Rs. 2.99 lakh for the Insignia Red and Highland Green followed by Midnight Black and Dawn Silver retailing at Rs. 3,11,990 and Rs. 3,15,990 (all ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Shadow Black option.
