Classic Legends, the company behind Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles, is all set to launch the BSA Gold Star in India on 15 August. The motorcycle has been on sale in Europe and finally, Indian consumers will be able to own a modern BSA bike.
Design
The design of the Gold Star stays true to the original BSA bikes and carries the heritage styling with a classic teardrop-shaped fuel tank, flat single-piece seat, and curved fenders. The circular headlamp, wire-spoke wheels, and chrome accents add to the old-school vibe of the motorcycle.
Features
Similar to its styling, the feature list on the Gold Star is quite modest as well. It gets a twin-pod semi-digital instrument cluster and a halogen headlamp. The only modern bits are a slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS, and a USB charger.
Engine specifications
Underneath the frame, the BSA Gold Star is powered by a 652cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 45bhp at 6,500rpm and a peak torque of 55Nm at 4,000rpm. The long-stroke motor is paired with a five-speed gearbox.
Cycle parts
The Gold Star uses a cradle frame with telescopic forks in the front and twin springs in the back. The motorcycle rolls on wire-spoke wheels, while the front and rear brakes use single rotors with dual-channel ABS as standard.
Competition and expected price
The BSA Gold Star is a direct rival to the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. BSA is expected to price the Gold Star at around Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom).
