- Hero commences deliveries of BS-VI Splendor iSmart
- One of the first customers from Delhi has received the motorcycle
- Other parts of the country will receive the motorcycle in a phased manner
Hero MotoCorp recently launched India's first BS-VI-compliant motorcycle, the new Splendor iSmart, months before the 1st April 2020 deadline for the implementation of new emission norms. Now, the company has announced that it has also commenced the deliveries of the bike starting from Delhi. One of the first customers in the city was handed over the new Splendor by Naveen Chauhan, National Head of Sales at Hero MotoCorp.
Hero launched the new Splendor iSmart at Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom), which is a premium of around Rs 8,000 over its BS-IV version. The motorcycle gets a host of upgrades which justify the price hike. To start with, the carburetted engine has made way for a fuel-injected unit, as required for adhering to the new emission regulations. This 110cc, air-cooled motor churns out 9bhp of power and 9.89 Nm of torque which has now been tuned to deliver punchier low-end torque and better fuel-efficiency.
The BS-VI Splendor iSmart is based on a new diamond chassis, in place of the previous double-cradle frame. Additionally, it also boasts of slightly higher ground clearance and longer travel suspension for a more comfortable ride. Besides all the mechanical changes, Hero has also bestowed the new Splendor with restyled body panels and new decals to give it a fresh appeal.
Hero has initiated the deliveries of the BS-VI Splendor iSmart from Delhi and National Capital Region while other parts of the country will also start receiving the motorcycle in the coming weeks, in a phased manner.
