C S Santosh has announced his participation in the 2017 Merzouga Rally. The 33-year-old racer will ride a Speedbrain 450 Rally for Hero Motosports Team Rally along side his team-mate Joaquim Rodrigues.
Having injured his ankle during the 2016 Desert Storm, C S Santosh could not race in the 2017 India Baja. Now he has been declared fit to participate in the 2017 Merzouga Rally. This will be Santosh's second outing in the Merzouga Rally. Last year's Merzouga Rally was the first event where C S Santosh raced for Hero Motorsports Team Rally. While Rodrigues had finished the rally in ninth position, Santosh had broken into the top 20. With an extra year's worth of experience under their belt, including the 2017 Dakar Rally, both the riders will be looking at improving their performance this year.
The 2017 Merzouga Rally will be flagged off today in Morocco and will conclude on 12 May. Over the course of these six days, the 178 competitors will cover a distance of over 1200km. The Merzougza rally is a part of the Dakar Challenge series.
