- CEAT Gripp XL are dual-purpose tyres of the XPulse 200
- Available sizes are 90/90-21 and 120/80-18
CEAT Limited, an Indian tyre manufacturer, announced its partnership with Hero MotoCorp for the tyres of the newly-launched adventure motorcycle, the XPulse 200. Named as the ‘Gripp XL’, these are dual-purpose tyres which suit the XPulse’ ADV character and the available sizes include 90/90-21 and 120/80-18.
The Gripp XL tyres for the Hero XPulse 200 come with a directional block pattern with augmented block geometry which, CEAT claims, makes it efficient even for riding through water. Meanwhile, the type of compound employed in these tyres is also durable enough to handle rough terrain. The company has designed the Gripp XL to be versatile which is suitable for city riding as well as off-roading.
The Hero XPulse 200 was launched on 1 May in India. The motorcycle is powered by a 199.6cc, air-cooled motor which churns out 18.1bhp and 17.1Nm and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. It rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels which are suspended by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by a 276mm disc at the front and a 276mm disc at the rear while ABS comes as standard.
Priced at Rs 97,000 (carbureted) and Rs 1.05 lakhs (fuel-injected) (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi), the Hero XPulse 200 is the most affordable adventure motorcycle in India. Considering its styling and purpose, the ADV competes against the Royal Enfield Himalayan in the Indian market.
