- CFMoto MT800 adventure tourer spotted
- Based on the KTM 790 Adventure
- To be unveiled by early 2021
The CFMoto MT800 adventure touring motorcycle was recently spotted in China. It was earlier spied in January this year and was scheduled to enter production by September. However, the delay caused due to the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed its international launch to early 2021.
The CFMoto MT800 shares its chassis and engine with the KTM 790 Adventure. Notably, both the brands have signed a pact, under which CFMoto not only produces engine and hardware for KTM in China but is also the only distributor of KTM offerings in the country.
The test mule of the MT800 was camouflaged, covering the entire body work. However, it can still be made out that the motorcycle boasts of a sporty and sharp design, which looks somewhat similar to the Ducati Multistrada. The front section incorporates a compact, dual-pod headlamp setup, a tall windscreen and knuckle guards. Blending with the large fuel tank are side panels which extend up to the front end to form a short beak. The bike was also equipped with side panniers and a top box.
The presence of dual-purpose tyres wrapped spoke wheels clearly depict its off-road credentials. However, with a low seat height and not-so-long suspension travel, it’s perhaps not as adventure-ready as the KTM offerings. Powering the MT800 is a 799cc, parallel-win engine which produces around 95bhp in the 790 ADV. Although the performance might vary following the Euro5-bound changes.
As of now, it’s not confirmed if CFMoto will sell the MT800 only in China or will introduce it in other countries as well. If the latter is the case, expect the motorcycle to enter into the Indian market also.
