- Introduced for the festive season
- Only valid in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu
- Offer valid till stocks last
Bajaj Auto has announced a new festive season offer for its electric offering, the Chetak scooter. It is now being offered at Rs. 1,15,000 until the stocks last. However, this offer is only valid in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The new price makes the Chetak electric scooter Rs. 15,000 cheaper than before.
In the Indian electric two-wheeler market, the Chetak Electric continues to be one of the few EVs from an OEM brand. It takes inspiration from yesteryear’s petrol-powered Chetak and hence gets an old-school design with curvy bodywork. However, there are a lot of modern bits, too, like the LED headlight, fully digital instrument console, and smartphone connectivity as well.
The Chetak e-scooter gets a 3.8kW motor that is linked to a 3kWh battery. Its top speed is limited to 63kmph and the maximum range is 107km (tested). The Chetak’s battery takes four hours to charge fully. Bajaj claims that it has a life span of about seven years or 70,000km before it needs replacement.
It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by a single-sided front spring and a single spring at the rear. Braking, meanwhile, is handled by a disc-drum setup with CBS. A new test mule of the Chetak electric scooter was recently spotted testing. It revealed a few mechanical tweaks over the current model.
