Going by the current trend of KTM in the Indian market, the RC/DUKE 390 will get the international updates, including the ABS while the RC/DUKE 200 models in India will miss out on the same. In a recent interview, KTM’s CEO Stefen Pierer had stated that the company is looking to introduce cornering ABS in all of their RC/DUKE models, globally, starting from the 125. Which means we may get to see this feature being added to the 390 models of the RC/DUKE in the India.
KTM has been working with Bosch and have developed this feature for the 1190 Adventure model which they sell in International markets. The engineers have developed sensors measuring lean-angle, pitch and braking pressure to allow it to intervene in time to prevent an accident. It will enable the rider to manoeuvre the motorcycle with confidence since the system has got the motorcycle in control.
The feature is not expected to be seen on the recently updated on the RC390 which received the front disc brake. This makes it larger in diameter at 320mm combined with adjustable brake and clutch levers, switchable ABS, Side Mounted Euro 4 emission compliant exhaust and ride-by-wire technology.
We can expect to see it soon with a slight price hike as compared to the outgoing model.
