- Zero-units sold in the domestic market
- Exported 8,134 two-wheelers, and 1,506 three-wheelers
- Preparing to restart operations
The nation-wide lockdown to curb the growth of the Coronavirus forced automobile manufacturers to temporarily stop productions and shut dealerships. Due to the shutdown, manufacturers could not sell a single unit in the domestic markets.
TVS Motor Company, too, reported similar results. The Hosur-based two-wheeler manufacturer said in a press statement that the company is committed to support the Government and the people in their efforts to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company’s plants have been shut since 23 March 2020. During April 2020, TVS had zero sales in the domestic market. Exports provided some relief as the company managed to ship 8,134 units of two-wheelers, and 1,506 three-wheelers (stock from March 2020) following the resumption of operations at Chennai Port.
TVS is now preparing to restart operations as per state guidelines. The company is undertaking strong measures to safeguard the health of the employees.
The company will also update its portfolio with the launch of the Scooty Zest 110 BS6 in the Indian market. The scooter is already listed as “Coming Soon” on TVS’s website, and we expect to hear a launch announcement in the coming days.
