Indian riders CS Santosh and Aravind KP have put up a commendable performance at the 2017 OiLibya Rally of Morocco, finishing 13th and 15th respectively. Aravind’s TVS Sherco team mates Joan Pedrero Garcia and Adrien Metge finished fifth and sixth respectively, while the other Hero Speedbrain rider Joaquim Rodrigues scored the seventh spot.
CS Santosh was initially handed a 20 minute penalty in the final stage, which saw him finish in the 15th position overall. However, the stewards later revoked the penalty, which saw him jump two places upwards to the 13th position. This was a major step up for CS Santosh over the last year, when he had finished in the 30th position. Aravind KP meanwhile, moved from the 26th position in the last year to the 15th position. The 2017 OiLibya Rally of Morocco was won by KTM rider Matthias Walkner, while Honda riders Kevin Benavides and Ricky Brabec finished 2nd and 3rd.
The OiLibya Rally of Morocco was the last rally-raid in FIM’s 2017 World Championship season. From here, the teams will now move on to the 2018 Dakar Rally, which is regarded as the most gruelling rally of its kind.
