CS Santosh has maintained his 42nd position in the overall rankings, after finishing 55th in the ninth stage of the 2015 Dakar Rally. Santosh was performing well in the 450-kilometre long stage, when a 40-minute penalty pushed his ranking back to 55th. Despite this setback, the 30-year old has managed to hold on to the 42nd position in the overall rankings.
The ninth stage of the 9,000-kilometre rally stretches from Iquique to Calalma, in Argentina. With the route passing through southeast Chile and the unforgiving Atacama desert, widely regarded as the ‘driest place on earth’; the stage had a combination of desert dunes and single track rocky sections. While the reason for Santosh’s penalty isn’t known so far, we’ll bring you the details as soon as we get hold of them.
With the tenth stage of the arduous rally in progress, Santosh was running in the 57th position. The 385-kilometre long stage stretches from Calama to Salta, and will take the racers from Chile into Argentina. We will be back with more news.
