It’s a known fact that only the best can survive and finish the Dakar Rally. While this dangerous race is known for its notorious route, there’s another aspect that can’t be predicted – weather.
The Stage 9 from Salta to Chilecito has been cancelled due to a landslide at the town of Volcan that falls along the non-competitive section of Stage 8. Due to this, all Dakar teams and support crew were rerouted to an alternative itinerary via San Antonio de los Cobres, extending the route by approximately 200km. This prevented competitors from reaching the Salta bivouac in time for the start of Stage 9.
The Stage 10 starts in a few hours from Chilecito to San Juan. Stay tuned!
