The stage 9 of the Dakar Rally 2019 turned out to be in favour of Sherco TVS as its rider Michael Metge clinched the first position. Resultantly, his overall ranking ascended from 24th to 22nd. A commendable performance was showcased by Hero’s Oriol Mena as well. The Spanish rider finished the stage at 10th position which shifted him higher up in overall standings to 9th rank. His team mate Joaquim Rodrigues retained his place in the top 20 as he is 17th overall.
Michael’s brother, Adrien Metge (TVS), also showed consistency by finishing the stage 20th while his position in general classification upped from 26th to 23rd. Meanwhile, India’s Aravind KP was comparatively behind from his previous stage ranking of 39th, as he ended up 55th in stage 9. However, his overall ranking remained intact at 39th position.
The top three positions in the general classification chart remained unchanged as Toby Price (KTM), Pablo Quintanilla (Husqvarna) and Matthias Walkner (KTM) stayed at first, second and third spot, respectively. The new entry in the top ten was made by private Honda rider Daniel Nosiglia who was the first runner up in the stage 9 and broke into top 10 overall.
The stage 10 will be on the concluding day of the Dakar Rally 2019 which will decide the winner amongst the leaders. It will expectedly be an action-packed day when everyone will be pushing harder in an attempt to deliver their best performance of the season. The riders will go through 112km timed section starting from Pisco, ending at the starting point of the first stage in Lima.
