- Up to Rs 30,000 incentives announced for electric two-wheelers

Delhi government has announced its new Electric Vehicle Policy. Under the new policy, the government will waive charges like registration fee and road tax on electric vehicles. The Delhi government will also provide incentives on the purchase of electric vehicles. Moreover, Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal added that the Delhi government will also offer low-interest loans on electric commercial vehicles.
The new policy, which will make electric vehicles more affordable, aims to reduce the pollution levels in the national capital. The Delhi government will give an incentive of up to Rs 30,000 on two-wheelers, e-rickshaws and freight vehicles. Electric four-wheelers will get an incentive of up to Rs 1.5 lakh. The incentives announced by the Delhi government will be applicable in addition to the existing FAME-2 benefits offered by the Union government.
Apart from making the e-vehicles more affordable, the Delhi government will also set up more charging across the national capital. The government plans to add 200 charging stations over the next year.
Commenting on the new policy, Jeetender Sharma, MD and Founder, Okinawa said that affordability has been one of the major concerns for buyers when buying electric vehicles. With Delhi government announcing incentives of up to Rs 30,000 on two-wheelers, Okinawa expects to see an easy and faster adoption of the same among buyers.
