- New EV policy introduced
- No registration charges for 3 years
- Will setup 250 charging stations
Delhi government has introduced a new electric vehicle policy to increase the adoption of electric vehicles in the capital.
This new electric policy focuses on huge tax subsidies for EVs along with setting up public charging stations. According to this policy, there will be no registrations fees or road tax for electric vehicles in Delhi for the next three years. Along with this, the government will offer Rs 5500 per kWh additional subsidy. The government will also help the Delhiites by providing Rs 6000 off on purchase of electric charging station. However, this is valid only for 30,000 charging points at homes or offices.
The Delhi government is also planning to setup close to 250 charging and battery swapping stations to support this initiative. It plans to achieve 25 per cent of EV target on the roads by 2024. The government has also asked last mile connectivity operators like Zomato and Swiggy to have 50 per cent EVs in its line-up by March 2023.
This new EV policy looks serious and we should appreciate the efforts by Delhi government. Brands like Ather, Revolt and Bajaj are definitely going to benefit the most.
