Sarath Kumar and Sethu Rajiv had a disappointing start at the 2017 season of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC). While Sarath finished 14th and 15th, Sethu crossed the chequered flag in the 16th and 19th position in the two races held over the last weekend.
The season opener of the 2017 ARRC was held at the Johor Circuit in Malaysia, with both Sarath and Sethu racing for RAMA Honda Racing team. Sarath, riding a Honda CBR600WR in the SS600 class started Race 1 in the 16th position, gaining two positions by the end of the race. He retained the 14th position in Race 2, thus earning four points over the weekend. Sethu on the other hand, was astride a Honda CBR250RR in the AP250 category. While he dropped to the last position in the first lap of Race 1 due to a bad start, he put up a great show finishing in the 16th position. Race 2 saw him drop to the 19th position.
The SS600 category is being led by RAMA Honda Racing team’s Taiga Hada, with 45 points in the kitty. Gerry Salim, riding for Astra Honda, is on top of the points table in the AP250 category with 50 points. The second round of the championship will conducted at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand. Both Sarath and Sethu will be looking at improving their rankings in the next race, with the latter sounding optimistic about finishing in the top 12 in Buriram.
