After DSK Motowheels showcased the Benelli range in India, many motorcycle enthusiasts have postponed their buy by few months. This has been done because the company is yet to launch the bikes in India and as per our source, the bikes will officially be seen on Indian roads later this month.
As per a report, the Benelli bikes in India will have a starting price of Rs 3.5 lakh, which will go all the way till Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). Its entry-level motorcycle, the TNT 300 will cost Rs 3.5 lakh, whereas the highest spec motorcycle in the range, the TNT 1130 will cost Rs 14 lakh.
The TNT 300 and the TNT 600 siblings will come as completely-knocked-down (CKD) units from China while the TNT 899 and the TNT 1130 would be imported from Italy and later assembled at the company's plant in Wai near Pune. The company is in the process of setting up dealerships across the country right now. It plans to have 20 showrooms by the end of its first year. The showroom count will go to 40 by the end of 2016 and this is quite a big number for any premium motorcycle range.
While we agree, some of the Benelli motorcycles are quite good but we were expecting competitive pricing from the Pune-based manufacturer like they said many times in the past. The entry-level model, the TNT 300 is almost Rs 50,000 more expensive than the Kawasaki Z250, which is the best looking parallel twin naked motorcycle in India. We have to wait till the official launch to see the official prices of these bikes.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more details on the DSK Benelli motorcycles.
