DSK Benelli will showcase their three new products – the Tornado 302, Leoncino and the TRK 502 at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo.
All three products, which are in concept form, were first revealed at the 2015 EICMA in Italy. While all the products received good response from the global audience, the company wants to gauge the reaction from the Indian consumers.
The Tornado 302 is powered by a 300cc in-line twin cylinder engine. This mill produces 36bhp at 12,000rpm and 27Nm of torque at 9,000rpm and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Built around the trestle frame , the Tornado sports 41mm upside down forks in the front and on the rear swing arm, a mono with adjustable preload. Once launched, the bike will compete with the Kawasaki Ninja 300, Yamaha YZF R3.
The TRK 502 is a middle-weight adventure motorcycle developed to meet the demand of the growing number of tourers in India. This motorcycle is built around the traditional Benelli steel trellis frame. Interestingly, the TRK 502 is powered by a new 500cc twin-cylinder engine. This mill produces close 47bhp and 45Nm of torque and is paired to a six-speed gearbox. This new engine will power Benelli's new range of motorcycles including the Leoncino.
The Leoncino is Benelli’s attempt to enter the growing Scrambler segment. This bike was a star attraction at the 2015 EICMA and the same story could be repeated at 2016 Auto Expo. While this bike is still in its concept form, the production version is expected to look almost the same, with few cosmetic and mechanical changes. The Leoncino is also powered by the same 500cc mill, which produces 47bhp and 45Nm.
Benelli will unveil the production versions of all these bikes starting next financial year. After the global unveil, these bikes will make their way to the Indian market via the complete-knocked-down (CKD) route.DSK Benelli to showcase Tornado 302, Leoncino and TRK 502 at 2016 Auto Expo
