DSK Benelli 302R (Tornado 302), a fully-faired version based on the TNT 300, will be launched in India in the last week of July. Ahead of its official launch, we tell you what to expect from the upcoming motorcycle.
Like its naked sibling, the TNT300, the upcoming 302R will be powered by 300cc in-line 2 cylinder engine that generates 35bhp of power at 12,000rpm and 27Nm of torque at 9,000rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. The bike gets a 14-litre fuel tank, new chassis and a steel trellis frame which is supposed to be lighter than the same in the TNT 300. The upcoming bike will get a semi-digital instrument cluster with an analogue tachometer.
The new DSK Benelli 302R gets split headlamps and a bigger exhaust system. However, the rear end resembles the TNT 300. The new bike also gets 260mm petal discs at the front and a 240mm disc brake for the rear. As for safety, ABS (Antilock Braking System) has been offered as a standard – a first in its class. The bike gets 41mm inverted forks on the front, while the rear gets an adjustable shock absorber with preload adjustment.
DSK Benelli dealers in the country have already started accepting bookings for the Tornado 302R with booking amounts ranging between Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. Post launch, the bike will compete against the likes of KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, and the TVS Apache RR 310S. Although prices will be announced later, we believe that the 302R might be priced around ₹ 3.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
