DSK Motowheels has launched its most awaited motorcycle, the Benelli 302R at Rs 3.48 lakhs (ex-showroom). This faired bike will sit above the TNT 300 in the Benelli line-up.
Developed to compete against the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Yamaha YZF-R3, the Benelli 302R is being sold as a completely-knocked-down (CKD) unit in India. The bulky body proportions of the 302R make it look appealing, and feel like a big bike. The fascia is quite large and houses an aggressive split headlamp unit. There's integrated LED DRLs as well.
The 302R gets the same motor as the TNT 300. However, the 300cc parallel-twin cylinder engine has been retuned to deliver more power: 38bhp at 11,500rpm and 26Nm of torque at 9,000rpm is delivered to the rear wheel via a six-speed transmission. The 302R features 41mm upside down forks up front and on the rear swingarm, a monoshock with adjustable preload. It sports sticky Metzeler tyres, alloy wheels, dual 260mm discs up front and a 240mm disc at the rear. ABS is standard on this bike, which is a good move by the company.
