DSK Motowheels is gearing up to launch their next product – the Tornado 302 in India. This new fully-faired bike will be launched by Diwali and will be called the Benelli 302R for the Indian market.
Unveiled at the 2015 EICMA, the Tornado 302 is the fully-faired version of the TNT 300, which is already on sale in India. Interestingly, the Tornado 302 is the Italian manufacturer’s first fully-faired model since the Tornado 1130. This bike is powered by an in-line twin cylinder engine which produces 36bhp at 12,000rpm and 27Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm. Transmission is a six-speed one. Built around the trestle frame, the Tornado features 41mm upside down forks up front and on the rear swing arm, a mono with adjustable preload. It sports Metzeler tyres, lightweight alloy wheels, 260mm floating disc up front and a single 240mm disc for the rear. There is a high chance of this bike getting the ABS as the company now has its own unit.
Talking about the price, DSK Motowheels will price this motorcycle quite competitively in the Indian market as it needs to compete with the KTM RC390, Yamaha YZF-R3 and the Kawasaki Ninja 300. While all these bikes come from companies that have a history of building good motorcycles, Benelli doesn't have the same brand value. So in order to have an edge over the other products, its Indian partner will surely play with the pricing. Also, the top honcho of DSK Motowheels wasn't happy with the quality of certain components of the concept version and wanted Benelli to improve. So we hope the production version will be of a superior quality. The Tornado 302 will be assembled at the company's new Talegaon facility.
