Now you don´t have to wait for long to find out details about the new Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition. It seems that a Ducati dealer in the UK has spilled all the juicy details right from the price to all its specifications. So here´s what we know so far. This motorcycle has the same engine capacity at 1285cc as the 1299 Panigale and 1299 Superleggera. This engine, however, differs from the Superleggera as it uses steel liners and a die-cast crankcase. The Superleggera engine on the other hand uses aluminium liners to save weight along with a race-style sand crankcase.
The leaked memo also reveals that this engine puts out only 209bhp at 11000rpm, thus making its figures lower than the 215bhp 1299 Superleggera. The Panigale R Final Edition weighs equal to the stock 1299 Panigale with a 190kg kerb weight but is 12kg heavier than the 178kg 1299 Superleggera.
Although the current 1299 Panigale is Euro 3 compliant, the teaser has revealed that the new bike features the same titanium exhaust as the Superleggera. This is done to help the bikes pass the strict Euro 4 emission norms. The 1299 R Final Edition will be a 2018 model and will sell alongside the Ducati’s new V4 superbike, slated to be launched by the end of this year.
The Ducati 1299 Panigale R will be priced at £34,995 in the UK, which is half the price of the limited edition 1299 Superleggera. Ducati had priced the Superleggera at £72,000 (₹ 1.12 crore, ex-showroom Delhi). Expected to be a limited edition, the 1299 R Final Edition will receive the ‘Tricolore’ colour scheme. Although deliveries are likely to begin in September after its launch on 7 July at Laguna Seca during the WSB round, the number of units to be produced has not been disclosed.
Now the question that remains is, will Ducati will get the Panigale R Final Edition to India? Ducati fans in the country will surely be awaiting the last of the Panigales and BikeWale will keep you updated.
