It’s been just a couple of months since Ducati unveiled their extremely exclusive motorcycle – the 1299 Panigale S Anniversario Edition. One model has recently been delivered to a customer in India.
The Indian bike in question is serial number 227, and only 500 of these were ever made. The customer who bought this exotic motorcycle is from Pune and he paid a whopping Rs 60 lakh (on-road Pune) for it, making it the second most expensive bike to be sold in India, after the Kawasaki Ninja H2R, which is priced at Rs 69.8 lakh (ex-showroom Pune).
This motorcycle sits between the 1299 S and the Panigale R in terms of specifications, but neither of these offers the kind of exclusivity the Anniversario edition does. Ducati says it has worked a lot on the electronics on the Anniversario edition. It gets the new DTC EVO and new Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO systems which manage to both increase control but at the same time allow the rider to push the limits of what the bike can do in terms of rear wheel slide and wheelies. The bike is also equipped with cornering ABS, Ducati Quick Shifter (DQS), Engine Brake Control (EBC) and Ohlins Smart EC semi-active suspension. The bike also sports a titanium Akrapovic exhaust system.
The new red and white paint scheme looks stunning. The gold wheels are something we’ve seen in a couple of other Ducati bikes as well but it still manages to look special. Powering this limited edition is the 1285cc liquid-cooled Superquadro L-twin engine that produces 204bhp at 10,500rpm and peak torque of 144.6Nm at 8,750rpm. Gearbox is six-speed.
